I wanted to try and build a good list of Holiday information and good holiday accommodation world wide with this page. Its important that anyone with a disability knows exactly what they are getting for their money. I have arrived before now at a holiday destination described as suitable for disabled people only to discover that this consisted of a drop down seat in the shower! Not much help when you have a person in a wheelchair! Especially if the shower is a enclosed cubicle and you need to assist the person to shower. I am going to start off with France because I live here and I have been on holiday here with a person in a wheel chair with no ability to stand.
Clos des Vignes Mike and Jackie Hubbard welcome you to Clos des Vignes which lies in an acre of quiet vineyard and gardens in the hamlet of Les Quatre Routes, 5 kilometres from the centre of Le Givre. Situated in the south of the Vendee, Western France, between Nantes and La Rochelle (also our local, international airports), we have a privileged position being only 20 minutes from safe, sandy beaches with wooded picnic areas and within just a few minutes of historical sites, floral parks, lakes, nature reserves, country walks and vineyards (for those who like to try the local wines). The more adventurous will love the Atlantic islands of Noiremoutier, Yeu and Re which can be visited within an hour or so. There are also many activities available to wheelchair users.
La Maison du Tilleul Argente We are a small chambre d hote in the village of Courcome, near Ruffec in the Charente. The house is situated in the centre of the village with the silver lime tree that it is named after right outside. The house has been restored from a former bar (there is still another in the village, which also has a restaurant), and it has had a varied history since it was originally built in 1850. Sadly we do not have the licence to serve alcohol, but the warm welcome, the comfortable beds and the ambiance will hopefully more than make up for that.
