I wanted to try and build a good list of Holiday information and good holiday accommodation world wide with this page. Its important that anyone with a disability knows exactly what they are getting for their money.

I have arrived before now at a holiday destination described as suitable for disabled people only to discover that this consisted of a drop down seat in the shower! Not much help when you have a person in a wheelchair! Especially if the shower is a enclosed cubicle and you need to assist the person to shower.

I am going to start off with France because I live here and I have been on holiday here with a person in a wheel chair with no ability to stand.

The Vendee.

This is easily accessible by aeroplane from several airports arriving in La Rochelle a small airport but a busy one. Ryanair fly regularly here from Stansted and Dublin. It is also reached via ferry from several ports when driving. These include Portsmouth, Poole, Dover travelling to St Malo, Caen, Le Havre and Boulogne. Its a good Drive but very nice to travel through the French countryside.

The Vendee itself is full of beautiful uncrowded beaches accept in August when the French take their Holidays or les Vacance. Lots of wonderful Parks and Gardens and architectural Buildings. France is steeped in History so there is much to see.
